Who We Are

Massage therapists treat clients by using touch to manipulate the muscles and other soft tissues of the body. With their touch, therapists relieve pain, help heal injuries, improve circulation, relieve stress, increase relaxation, and aid in the general wellness of clients.

As a licensed massage therapist, you will:

  • Talk with clients about symptoms, medical history, and desired results
  • Evaluate clients to locate painful or tense areas of the body
  • Manipulate muscles or other soft tissues of the body
  • Provide clients with guidance on how to improve posture, stretching, strengthening, and overall relaxation.

The Massage Therapy Certificate Program is a two semester, vocational certificate program totaling 750 hours. The Massage Therapy program provides students with the knowledge and skills required to pass licensure and certification exams. Graduates are prepared as entry-level practitioners in the massage therapy profession with an expected starting hourly wage of $20.80 per hour. We expect a 31% growth in positions available in the Volusia and Flagler counties over the next 5 years.

Kinesiology taping

Kinesiology Taping

Kinesiology taping is a therapeutic tool and has become increasingly popular within the sporting arena. Taping has been used for a long time for the prevention and treatment of sporting injuries. KT is not only used for sporting injuries but for a variety of other conditions. It was developed by Japanese Chiropractor Dr. Kenzo Kase in the 1970's with the intention to alleviate pain and improve the healing in soft tissues]. There are many proposed benefits to KT, including: proprioceptive facilitation; reduced muscle fatigue; muscle facilitation; reduced delayed-onset muscle soreness; pain inhibition; enhanced healing, such as reducing oedema, and improvement of lymphatic drainage and blood flow.
Cupping

Cupping

Cupping is a safe, traditional treatment that helps resolve chronic muscle tightness and pain faster than massage therapy alone. Maybe you’ve even seen people at your gym or swimming pool with those tell-tale red circles on their backs and shoulders. It’s becoming more common for people to request cupping to relieve chronic muscle soreness Cupping can increase circulation, encourage tissues to release toxins, reduce anxiety, reduce scars and much more.
Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release

Fascia is a specialized system of the body that has an appearance similar to a spider's web or a sweater. Fascia is very densely woven, covering and interpenetrating every muscle, bone, nerve, artery and vein, as well as all of our internal organs including the heart, lungs, brain and spinal cord. The most interesting aspect of the fascial system is that it is not just a system of separate coverings. It is actually one continuous structure that exists from head to toe without interruption. In this way you can begin to see that each part of the entire body is connected to every other part by the fascia, like the yarn in a sweater. Many people suffering with pain and or restricted mobility may go undiagnosed, because most standard tests (x-ray, blood tests, etc.) don’t reveal myofascial problems.
Sports massage

Sports Massage

Sports massage is manual manipulation of the muscles geared specifically toward helping people who have physically demanding lifestyles and/or hobbies. This kind of therapeutic massage considers the impact of certain activities on specific joints, muscle groups, tendons, ligaments, and soft tissue groups. The conscious focus of sports massage therapy is to enhance athletic performance rather than providing relaxation, maximize the benefit of certain massage techniques, and supports further physical exertion and activity.
hot stone massage

Hot & Cold Stones

A hot stone massage uses hot or cold stones to induce relaxation, combat pain and reduce insomnia. Hot stone massage warms and loosens tight muscles. It also helps to balance energy centers in the body. By relaxing muscles with direct heat, the hot stones allow access to deeper muscle layers.
