Weekly presentations provide continuing education and cultural enrichment activities
to senior members of the community
DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. (January 31, 2023) – The Daytona State College Foundation has announced the 2023 program lineup for its
Wisdom in Senior Education (WISE) talks, beginning February 7 with a discussion on
foreign involvement in the American Civil War.
The WISE program promotes and shares the College’s academic resources with our senior
community, providing learning opportunities in an enjoyable format. WISE is open to
adults 50 and older and has a low annual membership fee. All sessions are held at
Daytona State’s Advanced Technology Campus except for the February 28 program which will
be hosted at the Southeast Museum of Photography located in the Hosseini Center on
the Daytona Beach Campus.

Tuesday, February 7 - 2 p.m. Topic: Foreign Involvement in the American Civil War, Part II Speaker: Nancy Duke, DSC Faculty - History, School of Social Science & World Languages
Tuesday, February 14 - 2 p.m. Topic: THE TRAIN IS COMING! Speakers: Glenda Coursen and Larry Powers Members of the Port Orange Historical Museum Get the lowdown on the history of trains in Port Orange and the upcoming addition
of a caboose to the Port Orange Train Station located on Herbert Street in Port Orange.
Also learn about the start of Port Orange and how it grew into the city it is today!
