School of Adult Education Student Requirements
School of Adult Education Attendance Policy
At the School of Adult Education, we believe that consistent attendance and active participation are essential to student success. Being present and on time for every class is not only a requirement, but it also reflects your commitment to your goals and respect for your learning community.
Be Present and Be on Time
All students are expected to arrive on time and remain engaged for the entire duration
of each class session, including computer lab time, which is a required part of instruction.
Arriving late, leaving early, or stepping out of class for more than 15 minutes will result in the student being marked absent for that class meeting.
Absence Policy
- Students may miss up to five (5) class meetings per term.
- A sixth (6th) absence will result in withdrawal from the program.
- The School of Adult Education does not offer excused absences.
This means that all absences count the same, regardless of the reason.
Tracking Your Absences
Students are encouraged to stay informed about their attendance. At any time, students
may ask their instructor or a staff member for their current absence count.
Re-Enrollment After Withdrawal
Students who are withdrawn due to attendance may enroll again in a future term, unless
a hold has been placed on their account due to attendance issues across multiple terms.
Students with a hold must resolve the issue with Adult Education staff before re-enrolling.
If you are experiencing challenges that may affect your ability to attend class consistently, please speak with your Program Manager as early as possible. While absences cannot be excused, we are committed to supporting you and helping you stay on track whenever possible.

CASAS Testing: A Step Toward Your Progress
To ensure we are supporting your learning effectively, CASAS testing is required for
all students:
- Once you reach 70 instructional hours, you must complete CASAS testing before reaching 100 hours.
- Failure to complete testing before reaching 100 hours will result in withdrawal from the program.
- You can view Testing Center information here.
Your Responsibility as a Student
By choosing to be part of the Daytona State College community, you agree to uphold
the College’s Code of Conduct. This includes respecting others, staying informed about
academic policies, and meeting important deadlines. You can access the most current version of the Student Handbook here.
