Teachers certified in Exceptional Student Education K-12 (ESE) embrace the rewarding
challenge of helping exceptional students achieve their fullest potential. These dedicated
educators work closely with families and the community to create rich, inclusive learning
opportunities, making a significant impact on their students' lives. They are responsible
for providing instruction across multiple content areas and may need to obtain additional
content area certifications.
By earning a Bachelor of Science in Exceptional Student Education K-12 from Daytona
State College, you will be certified to teach students from kindergarten through 12th
grade. Our experienced instructors equip you with the essential resources and skills
to develop and deliver lessons tailored to the individual needs of ESE students.

Admission Requirements
- Demonstrate proficiency of the College-Level Academic Skills
- Conferred Associate of Arts degree from a regionally accredited institution
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5 in all higher education classes
- Completion of the Volunteer Clearance application
- Grade of "C" or better in the following prerequisite classes: EDF1005, EEX2010, and MAE2801
- Proof of passing scores for at least two of four subtests of the General Knowledge Test (GKT)
