DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. (March 29, 2021) – The Florida College System Activities Association has announced its 2020 Publications Division award winners,FCSAA logo and seven Daytona State College students are among those honored in the 61st annual competition. Five of those were selected for their work on DSC’s digital student newspaper, In Motion, and four were selected for their work in Ohana, Daytona State’s literary magazine.

Earning awards in the Newspaper Division were Michele Meyers (New Photo: 3rd place), Raphael Seabra (Sports Photo: 3rdplace), Jarred Walker (Picture Story: 3rd place), Sue Small-Kreider (News Story: 2nd place), and Kyra Lieberman (Editorial: 2ndplace and Editorial Cartoon, 2nd place).  

Earning awards in the Magazine B Division were Sharon Mary Clark (Nonfiction: 3rd place) and the trio of Nancy Aldahondo, Kylie DeDoo and Emery Graham (Photography, 3rd place).

Meyers has now been honored by the FCSAA four years in a row, primarily for her work in photography, and was the 2017 winner for best News Photo. She also took second for Feature Story in the Newspaper Division in 2018.

Walker and Lieberman are award winners for the second year in a row. Walker took third place in the Newspaper Feature Story category in 2019, and Lieberman was runner-up in the Newspaper Editorial category.
