Our limited access program equips you with the skills to offer essential bedside care, including assisting with daily activities like bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene, as well as clinical tasks such as administering medications and injections, monitoring vital signs, and dressing wounds.

Beyond basic care, you will learn to assist physicians and registered nurses in conducting tests and procedures, ensuring patient safety and effective treatment. You will become adept at gathering critical health information, engaging in health education with patients and their families, and advocating for patient wellness.

Our comprehensive curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, data analysis, and practical application of your knowledge in real-world scenarios. Mastery of mathematical concepts is crucial for accurate medication dosage calculations, ensuring the highest standards of patient care. Attendance, accountability, responsibility, professionalism, behavior, attitude, participation, and teamwork are essential for success in the LPN program.

  • Acceptance window: Applications are accepted every business day in May, with courses beginning in August.

  • Note: Applications must be submitted in person. Decision letters will be sent by mail following the close of the application window.

Licensed practical nurses (LPNs) care for people who are sick, injured, convalescent, or disabled under the direction of physicians and registered nurses. The nature of the direction and supervision required varies by state and job setting.

LPNs are generalists and work in a variety of health care settings. They are often found working under the supervision of physicians in clinics, long-term care, assisted living, skilled nursing facilities, or in home health care.

  • What do I have to include with the nursing program application?

    The submitted nursing application must include:

    1. Completed nursing application.
    2. Copy of unofficial transcripts. All official transcripts must be received by the Admissions Office at the time of application submission.
    3. Copy of passing TEAS* test scores.

    Review the How to Apply Guide for prerequisite requirements, application details, and selection criteria.

    *The TEAS test is a requirement for acceptance into the nursing program and it must be taken at Daytona State College PRIOR to submitting an application.
