About Us

The Federal TRiO Programs (TRiO) are Federal outreach and student services programs designed to identify and provide services for potential students. Daytona State College offers three TRIO programs (Talent Search, Upward Bound, and Student Support Services), which are targeted to serve and assist students (such as students with disabilities) to progress through the academic pipeline from middle school to post-secondary education.

TRiO Talent Search (TS)

Serving 6-12 grade students

The goal of Talent Search is to increase the number of youth to complete high school and enroll in and complete their postsecondary education. The Talent Search program identifies and assists individuals who have the potential to succeed in higher education. The program provides academic, career, and financial counseling to its participants and encourages them to graduate from high school and continue on to and complete their postsecondary education.

TRiO Upward Bound

TRiO Upward Bound at Daytona State College is a federally funded program that prepares high school students, grades 9 – 12, at Mainland High School, primarily those who are low-income and first-generation, for success in college. The program provides free academic support, college-prep workshops, Saturday sessions, a six-week Summer Academy, cultural enrichment, leadership development, and campus tours. By building skills, confidence, and exposure to higher education, TRiO Upward Bound empowers students to pursue their goals and achieve success beyond high school.
