Daytona State College to begin offering Emergency Management Concentration with Supervision and Management Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Fall 2026

DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. (April 28, 2026) Daytona State College will begin offering a fully online Emergency Management concentration within its Bachelor of Applied Science in Supervision and Management program this fall, expanding opportunities for professionals seeking leadership roles in public safety and emergency response.

The new concentration is designed to meet the growing demand for emergency management professionals with advanced training in leadership, planning and disaster response. It provides a seamless pathway for graduates of Daytona State’s Law Enforcement Academy, Corrections Academy, Fire Academy, Emergency Medical Services (Paramedic/EMT) programs, Criminal Justice Associate of Science programs and Emergency Medical Service Associate of Science program. Because the concentration is online, working professionals in law enforcement, fire service, EMS, emergency management and homeland security in any state are eligible to enroll.

“Working closely with our partners in the first responder community, we’ve identified a clear need for professionals who combine operational expertise with strong leadership and decision-making skills,” said Daytona State College President Dr. Tom LoBasso. “This program builds on the real-world experience many students already bring and prepares them to lead effectively in high-stakes situations, strengthening the communities they serve.”

Coursework specific to the concentration includes Introduction to Emergency Management, Hazard Mitigation and Preparedness, Disaster Response and Recovery, and Homeland Security and Emergency Management. Students will gain practical knowledge in risk assessment, mitigation strategies and emergency preparedness – skills directly aligned with today’s public safety operations.
