Dental Hygiene Clinic

Because we do not have a staff member permanently stationed at the Daytona Beach Campus, we are unable to accommodate walk-in appointments or inquiries. All patient visits are scheduled by appointment through our administrative assistant on the DeLand Campus.

We are currently transitioning to a new patient process in which prospective patients call to schedule an initial screening appointment. During this visit, a dental hygiene student, under faculty supervision, completes a brief oral screening and reviews the patient's medical history.

This appointment helps determine whether the patient is an appropriate candidate for treatment in our educational clinic. If the patient is accepted for care, they will pay in advance to schedule an appointment for their comprehensive preventive service (the initial screening appointment is provided at no cost). If clinic availability permits, the patient may be scheduled for treatment within a couple of weeks. Otherwise, they will be placed on a call list, and one of our dental hygiene students will contact them when an appointment becomes available.

For patients that have previously received treatment in our Dental Hygiene Clinic and are returning, prepayment is required before an appointment can be scheduled.

Please note:
▪ Patients may receive treatment in our Dental Hygiene Clinic no more than once per year. We encourage all patients to establish a dental home and to visit their primary dentist for a comprehensive dental examination at least once each year.

▪ Please note that appointments in our dental hygiene clinic are significantly longer than those in a private practice because they are educational experiences. Each appointment lasts approximately 3–4 hours, and most patients require at least two appointments to complete their treatment. Depending on the patient's individual needs, treatment may take as many as five appointments.
