Peer Review & eMentors
Online Peer Review
The Online Class Peer Review Process ensures quality design in online classes at Daytona State College, with oversight from the Department of Academic Innovation and full time faculty members who teach in the online modality and who serve on the DSC Peer Reviewer Committee. The DSC QM Peer Review Process uses the Quality Matters (QM) Higher Education Rubric, 7th edition, as the central document to guide the DSC peer review process. This recommendation supports the Florida Board of Governors 2025 SUS Strategic Plan for Online Education, which outlines a goal of identifying quality and high-quality online courses noted in the FloridaShines catalog. A Quality or High-Quality designation is a significant accomplishment that means an online course has met rigorous, research-based standards of course design in the following areas:
- Course Overview and Introduction
- Learning Objectives (Competencies)
- Assessment and Measurement
- Instructional Materials
- Learning Activities and Learner Interaction
- Course Technology
- Learner Support
- Accessibility and Usability

eMentors
The eMentors are a committee of instructors representing nearly all academic departments whose primary focus is to promote and assist other instructors with educational technology by mentoring peers on best practices, instructional design, academic integrity, and course quality. They also serve as a liaison between instructors and the Department of Academic Innovation.
Peer Reviewers are additionally denoted by an asterisk (*). They assist the Dean of Academic Innovation in performing online course reviews of faculty by applying the Rubric for Online Course Delivery.
