The Money-back Guarantee Program was created by the Florida Legislature in 2021 with the Reimagining Education and Career Help (REACH) Act. Students who successfully complete a program designated for the money-back guarantee, meet all program and professional requirements, and are not employed six months after graduation are eligible to request a refund for tuition paid.

Students eligible for the guarantee may receive a reimbursement of tuition, which is defined as tuition assessed minus institutional scholarships or grants received. Please note, only tuition is included in this guarantee; any fees and other expenses and/or charges are excluded.

Daytona State College has designated the following programs for the Money-back Guarantee:

  • Correctional Officer Recruitment Training
  • Dental Hygiene
  • Educator Preparation Institute
  • Practical Nursing
  • Radiography
  • Respiratory Therapy

Who qualifies?

  • All students admitted to the designated programs are automatically enrolled in the Money-back Guarantee program.
  • Students must successfully complete their entire program, per the expectations set forth by the individual program of study.
  • Students must meet minimum attendance requirements as specified by the program of study.
  • Students must pass all required professional credential exams for their program of study:
        • Correctional Officer Recruitment Training completers must pass the State Officer Certification Exam (SOCE).
        • Dental Hygiene graduates must pass the following examinations: The National Board Dental Hygiene Examination administered by the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations; ADEX Dental Hygiene Examination (Clinical Examination and Computer Simulated Clinical Examination) administered by CDCA*WREB*CITA; The Florida Laws and Rules Examination
        • Educator Preparation Institute graduates must pass the following Florida Teacher Certification Exams (FCTEs) prior to program completion:
          • General Knowledge Test of Skills (GKT) or possess concordant GRE scores or a master’s degree from an accredited institution.
          • Professional Education Test (PEd) or receive a highly effective rating on the most recent summative (final) teaching evaluation, and
          • Subject Area Exam (SAE).
        • Practical Nursing completers must pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN).  The exam is administered by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) via Pearson VUE.
        • Radiography graduates must pass the examination from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
        • Respiratory Care graduates must pass the Written Examination and Clinical Simulation Exam from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NRBC).
  • Students must be in good financial standing with Daytona State College.
  • Students must be legally eligible for employment in the U.S.
  • Students must successfully pass any background checks and drug screening as required by prospective employers.
  • Students must be willing to travel or relocate to a new market to obtain employment within the field.
  • Students must have a documented job search of at least 20 different positions and applications and rejections/denials with positions that are related to the program of study. Minimum of one application submission related to the program of study after passing the related industry credentialing exam is required.
  • Students must have met directly with Daytona State College’s Career Services department to receive resume/employment assistance while enrolled in or within two months of completing the program of study. Students must have met with DSC Career Services and completed the following activities:
        • Resume building
        • Portfolio development
        • Job search assessment
        • Interview preparation
  • Students must develop a career and employment plan including the elements noted above and meet all benchmarks within the plan.
  • Students who have met all criteria stated above and do not receive a job offer in their respective industry within six months after graduation will be considered eligible to request a refund for out-of-pocket tuition only. Textbooks, supplies, and other fees or expenses are not eligible for reimbursement.
  • Students must request a refund no earlier than 180 days and no later than 210 days after the date the degree is conferred on the student’s transcript.
  • After completion of the eligible program, the student cannot be enrolled in an upper-level stackable program.
